Good afternoon Leopards!
This is Superintendent Michele Shaffer. I hope you enjoyed the nice weather this weekend and spent some time celebrating or remembering the father figures in your life. I thought a Monday call would work better due to the holiday weekend.
Thank you again for completing the parent planning survey last week. We will gather all of the information for review and prepare a summary to share. This is just one piece of the process of determining what school will look like in the fall. What lies ahead for all of us feels uncertain and perhaps at times a bit scary. I have been meeting with our county administration and superintendents weekly as we wait for final recommendations from the governor, boards of health and Ohio department of education. We are just as anxious as you are to have some final determination. We must weigh these recommendations with the potential health risk to our students, staff and community. I promise to communicate our plans as soon as we have reached a decision.
The Alliance Review and Canton Repository had a mistake in their report of last week’s Board of education meeting. A few course fees have increased very slightly but school fees overall have not doubled.
The Paw Prints newsletter you will receive later this week will include a survey that will help the board determine what the community will support on the November ballot. The Board has no other option but to seek funds for district operations and appreciates your feedback on this important issue.
Our last grab and go meal service will be Thursday, June 25. We appreciate our staff and volunteers for their work helping us provide this valuable service.
A special thank you to former Board of Education member Dr. Michael Thomas and our advertising partners for their work in funding the new scoreboard at Leopard stadium. The benefits go well beyond athletics.
As always, please continue to check our website and Facebook pages for updates and information. Have a great evening!
